Providing Life-Saving Children’s Psychiatric Care
KVC Hospitals Kansas City, formerly known as KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital, helps youth ages 6 to 18 who are experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, the impacts of trauma, and other behavioral and mental health challenges. Our inpatient acute hospital and residential treatment programs provide modern, safe, and child-friendly environments that encourage positive interactions and creativity. We accept Kansas and Missouri Medicaid plans and most private insurance plans.

Helping Kids and Families Heal
Our treatment center is located on 75-acres of private, serene land just minutes from I-70 and tucked into the rolling hills of the Kaw Valley. KVC’s learning labs offer educational opportunities for youth with hands-on activities such as virtual reality, emotion regulation drills, expressive therapies, and other innovative treatment approaches. Recreation features include a gym and indoor and outdoor activity spaces and we provide private visitation rooms for family therapy, visits and evaluations. For those unable to travel, secure tele-video is available.
Clients receiving residential treatment are able to attend KVC Academy, an accredited alternative education program for grades K-12 where they are able to receive credits, educational testing and IEP services.
