Diversity Matters Initiative
With regard to diversity, it is the mission of KVC Hospitals to embrace and celebrate all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability or age; while appreciating their diverse world-views, life experiences, thoughts and ideas. KVC strives to reflect the clients, families and communities in which we serve, while also cultivating diversity across all levels of our organization.
- As part of our ongoing commitment to our Diversity Matters Initiative, KVC Prairie Ridge children’s psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center created programming and groups throughout the month of June acknowledging Caribbean American Heritage Month and LGBT Pride Month. This diversity was celebrated to support, educate, and uplift both clients and staff. Read about all of the great things we did in June on our blog post (KVC Prairie Ridge Enjoys a Busy Month Celebrating Diversity in June).
- In May, we celebrated Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Throughout the month, our therapists, staff members, administrators and clients participated in groups designed to teach about Asian Pacific American Heritage. Read our blog post (KVC Prairie Ridge Celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month as a Part of Diversity Matters Initiative) for more details!
- Throughout the month of February, KVC Prairie Ridge Hospitals’ Diversity Matters Initiative committee set a goal to structure and promote Black History Month within the building, with client groups and in staff meetings.
